Death of Radio Darklady?

Darklady reports: "Dear Friends of Darklady, sexual education and eclectic radio entertainment, Radio Darklady is (temporarily) dead.

"After 6 months of great shows, wonderful guests, terrific listener response, and growing advertiser interest, JJ McKay -- the owner of KGUY AM 1010 -- has decided that Radio Darklady is merely ego radio serving no purpose to the community at large and with no real listenership. Because of this, I discovered upon returning from the Consumer Electronics Show and Adult Video News Awards in Las Vegas that my time slot has been revoked.

"I have contacted Ms. McKay for confirmation of the removal of my airtime but received no response. Communication with those close to the station indicates a systemic problem regarding finances and a number of loud arguments over the fate of Radio Darklady with JJ being the sole voice of opposition. Large advertisers wishing to buy time on Radio Darklady have encountered repeated difficulties doing so or with having their sponsorships properly credited. It's all very frustrating but I am heartened to know that many have and continue to support the goal of Radio Darklady: to provide intelligent, respectful, informative and entertaining coverage of local and national celebrities, issues and information regarding sexuality and eclectic entertainment.

"I choose not to see this as a failure but, rather, as an opportunity to think beyond conventional information resources. I am investigating Internet webcasting and creating demo tapes to send to interested radio stations, including KLSX FM in Los Angeles, which has asked to hear the show for possible inclusion in its web line-up.

"If any of you have information about webcasting that you would be willing to share with me, please feel free to contact me.

"If you would like to express an opinion regarding the removal of Radio Darklady from the KGUY AM 1010 lineup, please feel free to contact the station at 503-235-1010, 1-800-636-1011 or [email protected].

"Thanks for your continued support. Hopefully Radio Darklady will soon find another home on either standard radio airways or the Internet. I have a long list of interesting people who want to be guests and I'm very excited about where the future may find us. In the meantime, you can continue to read my work in AVN Magazine, AVN Online Magazine, Fetish Magazine, and at the Larry Flynt Digital site http://www.seanhartgrove.com.
