DRAGGED DOWN

Sky-high rents are dragging the top British transvestite club to closure, but the faithful are hoping and hunting for a new venue.

Madame Jo Jo's has been one of Soho's top attractions for fifteen years; supermodel Kate Moss and singer Robbie Williams were among the faithful clients, and Stanley Kubrick shot some scenes there for Eyes Wide Shut. But the club closes 23 December thanks to a new lease it cannot afford, says Reuters.

The final show opens Thursday - Ruby Venezuela and Venus Mantrap in "Bump Bump Burlesque." It plays seven nights a week until the club's closing date.

Madame Jo Jo herself says the club's appeal lies in its lack of prejudices, judgments, and arrogance. "Anything goes," she says.
