He claimed to be possessed by the devil. And a Brazilian stonemason has severed his own penis after stabbing himself in the chest and stomach with a borrowed knife, local police say.
The incident happened on Feb. 20, when police tell Reuters he ran to a neighbor's house and asked for a kitchen knife, then stabbed himself. When police arrived and tried to take him into custody, Reuters says, he sliced off his penis.
He suffered wounds to his liver and scrotal sac as well and was brought to a hospital in Goiania, northwest of the Brazilian capital. His penis was brought in separately, then reattached successfully following a seven-hour surgical procedure.
