DK responds to comments made in an earlier posting by Jodi Ryder in which she said, "First of all I came to this business with a agent that didn't know how to do his job. At the time, my old agent DK, was throwing me at Roy [Garcia] because he couldn't find me any work, and he knew Roy could." DK remembers it a slightly different way.
DK: "I don't have a problem with people saying things about me, as long as they're true. Apparently there's some info here that I threw Jodi, aka Summe, to Roy Garcia because I couldn't find her any work. The truth is that she had I.D. problems for six weeks. She was indicating, 'A copy of my I.D. is here in Ontario; the other copy is here in a strip club I worked at.' She always had these excuses as to why she did not have proper I.D. Everywhere I took her because she did not have adequate I.D., could not hire her. This went on for about six weeks. I became very impatient. I took her to get her contacts that she needed to take some kind of eye test at the DMV. I took her to the DMV. After doing all those things, she still could not produce two pieces of adequate I.D. I grew very weary.
"Then it was, 'I only want to work with Luciano,' and all the companies wanted her to do boy-girl, she didn't want to do it. I said if you don't want to do these things, that's fine. I tried very hard to help you. Roy Garcia happened to be around me that day and I introduced him to her and asked her if she wanted to give Roy a shot to try to help her. Roy was willing to go with her to the hall of records and get a birth certificate Finally, he figured out a way for her to get her I.D.'s But that was too much work and energy for me. It's not my responsibility to go and get an adult her birth certificate."
G. Ross: "Why do you guys do this?"
DK: "I ask myself that. Sometimes I have second thoughts about why I do what I do. But I love being an agent and I love doing what I do. There are times I get frustrated, but I love this business for many reasons. But that's the truth in regards to this Jodi Ryder who's changed her name from Summer. In fact, I was just talking to Roy, and he indicated that everyone was saying that he stole Summer from me when I verbally told everyone otherwise. I said I gave her to Roy because I lost patience."
