DJ Yella Featured in VH1’s 'Hip-Hop Honors'

Darkside Entertainment director and former N.W.A. member, DJ Yella, is featured in VH1’s “Hip-Hop Honors” awards program airing this month.

The show, which was taped in New York, featured Yella along with his former label mates, Bone Thugs N Harmony as well as Young Jezzy and Lil Eazy-E, the son of the late rapper Eazy-E.

Yella is also working with Lil Eazy-E on his debut album, “Prince of Compton,” which is scheduled for release early next year, with among others, collaborations with Timberland, Dr. Dre, and Bone Thugs N Harmony.

Yella said he plans to work with Lil Eazy-E on an adult project titled Lil Eazy-E’s NeighborHOOD, to be produced by his DJ Yella Entertainment and distributed by Darkside.

The show honored pioneer hip hop artists Afrika Bambaataa, Beastie Boys, Ice Cube, Russell Simmons, Rakim, Eazy E, MC Lyte, and the Wu-Tang Clan.

The show was hosted by Ice T and featured appearances by Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson of The Roots, Common, Da Brat, Diddy, Erykah Badu, Fat Joe, George Clinton, Lil' Jon, Lil’ Kim, Mike Epps, OutKast, and others.

It airs throughout this month.
