Cybersocket Becomes ASACP Sponsor

Stressing how "very important" it is for gay adult Webmasters to stand up for the fight against child porn, Cybersocket has become a sponsor of Adult Sites Against Child Pornography.

“Industry self-regulation is the best defense, not only against child pornography, but against governmental intrusion into the activities of our legitimate businesses,” said advertising director Morgan Sommer, announcing the ASACP sponsorship late October 10.

Sommer told AVN.com there were two prime factors in Cybersocket's agreeing to sponsor the group: the personality of executive director Joan Irvine, and that ASACP was doing precisely as it claims to be doing.

"Joan is a great person. It's about Joan," Sommer said. "I love Joan, we think that Joan, her personality, is great, and that is what attracted me to the organization initially, just meeting her. We've had a lot of conversations over the last six months…because I like her and I like what her organization does, and my business partners do, too, we naturally wanted to support what she's doing.

"I'm not an altruist. So when my partners and I decide to lend support to nonprofit things, it's because we checked them out, too," he continued.  "We want to make sure the organization is accomplishing it's stated mission, and is not a front for something else. And we're convinced ASACP is a valid and valuable organization. In a lot of ways, the future of our industry is dependent on the success of an organization like hers. The last thing I want to see is the government intruding on everybody's business. There's some altruism involved, but there's more practicality."

Irvine said Cybersocket's sponsorship equals a big step forward in presenting a united adult Internet front against child porn. “It is important for the mainstream to understand that all areas of the adult site community are united against child pornography," she said. "Morgan Sommer has been helping ASACP to understand the subtle differences in the gay community and provided us with Cybersocket’s search terms that denote underage content. ASACP is pleased to have the support of Cybersocket.”
