Barely a month after giving JasonCurious.com its first major facelift, Sechrest has launched his first referral program, offering adult Webmasters a chance to get in on the only adult site covering both straight and gay genres, and offering 50 percent sales commissions on the initial $19.95 signup and posting banners or text referrals on Webmasters' own sites.
"I was taking a look at our staff and our highest referrers and I thought, there are a lot of sites out there that are sending me more traffic than I'm sending them, and I didn't think that was fair," Sechrest told AVN Online. "So I talked to my Webmistress and she told me not only should we be linking to all those sites, but we should have a referral program. And it seemed to make perfect sense to me. And it seems to be more incentive for other sites out there to link to me who aren't already."
Sechrest said "a lot of people" tried talking him out of the 50 percent commission as too high, but he said that, too, was a matter of fairness.
"I know a lot of people do something lower for a longer period of time, like 15% for not only the initial signup but recurring memberships as well. That didn't really make any sense to me," he said. "I'm all about doing what's fair. If you're sending me a new member, you should get half of what I make off of that person immediately and up front. You're the one who has brought them there and once they've joined, we're the ones keeping them there."
To Sechrest, the more traffic exchanged between sites, the more profit and better working relationship for everyone. "When I do an article on someone and link to their Websites or their black book entries," he said, "they always e-mail me and tell me they got a great spike in traffic and I'm happy to do that for people, especially if they're willing to do it for me."
Sechrest also plans to offer home-page promotion to the top ten referrers in hand with the new referral program. He plans to post a list of JasonCurious.com's top ten, "thereby giving them more promo than just being on our links page with the others," he said. "Again, it only seems fair that if you're sending us more traffic than anyone else, that we do the same for you in return and promote you above the rest."
