LOS ANGELES—With her new series SEX With Sunny Megatron set to debut tonight on Showtime, the show's titular star sat down with Cosmopolitan for an interview published online today. The piece, written by Anna Silman, is titled "What It's Like to Have Clown Sex," and the interview certainly succeeds in delivering on the title.
But it also offers an in-depth look at the sort of cultural influences that inspired Megatron and her husband, Ken Melvoin-Berg, to produce the series, which, she explains, made its way into production through the efforts of the show's co-executive producer, Paul Fishbein.
When asked how the series made it to Showtime, the Chicago-based sex educator explained, "I do my YouTube videos and they attracted the eye of a guy called Paul Fishbein, who's the creator of the AVN empire. We started working together on a web series, doing toy reviews, et cetera. And then he said, 'I'm going to put together some clips and show it to someone at this network that I know,' which happened to be Showtime. And then it just snowballed from there."
In addition to delving generally into the world of kink and exploring the non-traditional boundaries of Megatron's marriage ("Are you guys still non-monogamous?" "Yes, we are non-monogamous."), the interview mostly explores the types of things viewers will see in SEX With Sunny Megatron ("The meat of the show is going to consist of being a fly on the wall of bedrooms of real people."), but also spends a lot of time on the aforementioned clown sex.
On that topic, we'll let the interview speak for itself, but curious individuals (i.e. everyone reading this) owe it to themselves to tune in tonight at 11 p.m. EST on Showtime.
