Consumer Sex Show Draws Fans, Criticism

A recent Associated Press story said the Sex and So Much More Show drew thousands of attendees, as well as criticism from lawmakers, when it debuted in Denver, Colo., last weekend.

The story reported that organizers of the event expect final attendance numbers for the Denver show to top the 15,000 people who turned out for the event when it debuted in Minneapolis earlier this year.

But just as in Minneapolis, the story continued, not everyone was pleased with the event. State Rep. Jim Welker, a Republican from Loveland, Colo., sent a letter to Colorado Convention Center management Friday to complain about the event. Eight other lawmakers also signed the letter. Welker argued that since the center is funded by public tax dollars, it should be more sensitive to community values when it contracts shows for the facility.

Erin Knight, spokesman for the center, told the Associated Press that the center had not yet received the letter and thus had no comment on it.
