Destiny St. Claire found herself abruptly thrust into the spotlight at the 2005 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, greeting crowds of fans at the booth of CinemaPlay Entertainment after signing on as their first contract girl.
“I signed at midnight three days ago,” the 20 year-old blue-eyed brunette told AVN.com on Saturday, January 8. She has been working in adult for almost two years, starting first as girl-girl only but later segueing into boy-girl as well. She estimates she’s shot about 60 scenes so far, for most of the major video companies.
CinemaPlay is the DVD releasing arm of adult.com, a network of 110 pay websites with over 40 million unique customers a month. Adult.com shoots 10 to 15 scenes a week, all of which go right on to the pay sites. CinemaPlay re-purposes the web content as DVD releases.
“We send our members to the retail outlets to buy the DVDs,” president David Stidham told AVN.com. “We tell 40 million fans that the DVDs are available.”
Stidham said CinemaPlay’s niche is “reality based programming.” When entering the DVD market they wanted to make sure that they were not competing with or duplicating the feature or gonzo product of established companies. Instead, he said, “We are the reality-based answer.”
Stidham describes his audience as mostly young men. “Stores near college campuses do extremely well with our product,” he said.
He characterized lines like Euro Mail Order Brides and Teen Hitchhikers as full of humor, especially the kind that appeals to a younger demographic. “Humor is very important in all the product we make,” he said, adding that equally important are “fresh young girls.”
Destiny fills the bill on that score. Their plan is to create a pay site for her immediately. “We’re launching her on the Internet,” Stidham said.
Her web scenes will be followed by release on DVD. The company will promote her with in-store appearances and dancing engagements, encouraging fans to come out and see “the real girl as well as the virtual girl.”
Destiny had already done some web content for adult.com, her scenes appearing in volumes of Girls Hunting Girls, Teen Hitchhikers and others. She said CinemaPlay “really liked me and the stuff I did. They asked me and I said yes.”
She is probably unique among porn starlets in that not only does she come from Cleveland, Ohio, but actually lives there, traveling to Los Angeles only to work. “I love Cleveland,” she said.
Regarding her deal with CinemaPlay, she said, “I am really excited to have a base, a stability, with a company that wants to take care of me and promote me. I hope they’ll make me a big name.”
