CinemaPlay Changes Name, Spice Studios Launches

CinemaPlay Entertainment has been renamed Spice Studios and will pursue a vertically-integrated business model, consolidating its production, marketing and distribution efforts.

Spice Studios will focus on content from two major sources, Spice DVD, the companies’ home for high-end features and Cinemaplay, the companies’ gonzo line. Spice Studios will operate under the motto “Too hot for TV.”

The new company, set to launch at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, will release existing, popular Spice TV programming such as Spice Hotel and Sexxx Training Camp, and add material seen too explicit for broadcast, re-editing the films from XX to XXX.

Spice Studios will also produce its own in-house, big-budget adult features. Three have completed principle photography: Sex Whisperer, a Hitchcockian thriller starring Brittney Skye and Lisa Ann; Fly Spice: The Virgin Flight, starring Tiffany Taylor and Britney Manson; and Fly Asian Spice: Pacific Rimmed, starring Kaiya Lynn and Avy Scott. Both Fly Spice features are sexual spoofs on Airplane. All three videos are scheduled for release later in 2006. All the features are filmed entirely in high-definition.

CinemaPlay will release two completely new titles under Spice Studios as well, an interracial series called Eat My Black Meat and Right Off the Boat, a series showcasing ethnic beauties.

“We want to do four CinemaPlay titles a month,” David Stidham, VP of sales and operations for Spice Studios, exclusively told AVN.com, “and we’d like to ramp Spice Studios up to four features a month as well.” In total, the company plans for over 100 DVD titles to be released in 2006.

“We have 110 websites and millions of new web visitors a month,” Stidham continued. “As new technology emerges, we want to make those consumers happy by making our material available in any format that’s out there, whether it’s streamed or televised or put on DVD.”
