The decision to grant government funds to porn maker Conrad Son for the purpose of plying his trade has incited stern condemnation from Spanish citizens since the spending practices of the regional government which disbursed the funds, the Generalitat, recently became public.
According to British news source, Telegraph Media Group, the grant was approved by the northeast Spain separatist group as part of its agenda to "promote Catalan [the language of the region] in every medium." The monies went toward the production and/or exhibition of three movies, all in Catalan.
Refuting public criticism of the grant as "a degradation of public money," Son — who has shot a number of titles for Private Media Group, including the Chateau trilogy — insisted that the movies funded by the Generalitat are legitimate works of art, saying, "These are erotic films, not pornographic. They have stories. I know the difference, as I also make pornographic films."
