Carpathia Hosting Acquires ProHosters

Carpathia Hosting, a provider of "high performance Internet hosting and intelligently routed bandwidth services," announced today that it acquired the customer base and related hardware from ProHosters LLC, a leading provider of shared and dedicated Web hosting services. As part of the transaction, Carpathia Hosting will be placing ProHosters customers behind Carpathia's Intelligently Routed Network (CIRN) and will retain key ProHosters technicians.

"We have been wishing to expand our service offerings into the shared and VPS space, and ProHosters' customer base of very satisfied customers is a great first step," explained Carpathia Hosting CEO Rick Smith to AVNOnline.com. "We are also very impressed with the live customer support channel they have developed, and will be introducing that to our customers in short order. While maintaining aggressive prices, we will be making services faster and more powerful."

"ProHosters and Carpathia Hosting share the same data center vendor, Equinix, in Ashburn, Va. When ProHosters president Dan Wrinkle was looking for ways to improve the speed of their network, he came to us. This was the beginning of the relationship. After learning more about ProHosters, it was clear that combining the two would be a very powerful combination."

"We have been impressed with ProHosters' growth, and see this transaction as a logical step toward expanding our line of service offerings," Smith said in a statement. "Placing ProHosters within our network and leveraging the combined support staffs is a combination that can't be beat."

"The sale to Carpathia ensures the ProHosters customers the best in both network and support, while allowing me focus on the development of SAMi full-time," added Ted Hickman of ProHosters LLC.
