Carey to Appear on ‘The Abrams Report’

Adult film star Mary Carey will be a special guest on “The Abrams Report” on MSNBC on Wednesday.

Carey has been invited to offer her opinions on the proposed tax of sexually explicit material in Kansas that supporters say would compensate for the harm it does to society.

Shari Weber, the proposal’s sponsor, said publicly that taxpayers pay millions for the prosecution of sex crimes, a sex offender registry is available to the public and so are programs to treat offenders. It is her view that the adult industry should contribute more to help pay for these programs.

A special committee for the Kansas legislature heard testimony on Tuesday, and it is expected to decide this fall whether to recommend such a tax.

Carey, a contract performer for Kick Ass Pictures, previously appeared on "The Abrams Report," which is hosted by Dan Abrams, last year during the industry’s HIV scare. Tuesday's broadcast is scheduled for 3 p.m. PST, and it will be replayed later that night.

The busty blonde starlet, who is also the sex editor for Swank, gained national notoriety in the fall of 2003 during a high-profile run for governor of California. In a tongue-in-cheek article focusing on Angelina Jolie that appears in the most recent issue of Jane magazine, it was suggested that Carey run for President.

The star of such titles as The Mary Carey Experience and Mary Carey Rules! will be feature dancing next Thursday through Saturday at the Spearmint Rhino in downtown LA.
