Caballero Video has announced the creation of a gay division to be headed by sales exec Izzie. The gay brands comprising Izzie's new division are Blue Pictures, Blue Classics, Blue Gonzo Specialty DVD, and the just-created Hollywood Gone Blue. All gay products produced and manufactured by Caballero can only be purchased from Izzie.
"Our mission," said Izzie, who uses only her first name, "is to enable our customers to buy Caballero gay product without confusing it with our straight product."
The Hollywood Gone Blue line is the result of the purchase of 100 titles from Hollywood Film Works, which recently closed. "They produced popular 'guy next door' videos that were only released on VHS from Hollywood Sales," said Izzie. "We will be remastering them for DVD and making them available to distributors."
Caballero will continue producing and releasing its own gay features under the Blue Pictures name as well as releasing vintage gay adult films under the Blue Classics brand.
"Blue Classics has a library of five hundred 'gay treasures'," Izzie explained, "that feature such names as Jack Wrangler, Al Parker, Joe Gage, and the Christy Twins. They were originally shot on film and shown in gay movie houses. We'll start releasing them on DVD in special gold-and-black foil packaging at the end of this month."
For Izzie, the new position is a dream come true. "I have always wanted to become the head of a gay division of a major distributor since I started my sales career. Caballero has been a pre-eminent distributor in the adult entertainment industry for the past thirty years. Now my goal is to make it better than it's ever been, expanding the presence of our gay line. I have the utmost respect for the honesty in the gay industry."
