CRUSH VIDEO PRODUCER FACING TRIAL

The man accused of making the "crush" porn video The Tails of Charlie's Ankles will stand trial.

A judge here ordered Gary Lynn Thomason to stand trial for three felony counts of animal cruelty in the case, which hovers around a video in which small animals are stomped to death by a woman in spiked heels.

He faces up to four years and four months in state prison if found guilty. He's now free on $45,000 bail and has a 29 September arraignment in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The woman said to have been the stilettoed stomper in the video, Diane Aileen Chaffin, has also been ordered to stand trial in the case and could face the same penalties if convicted for the same charges. She's said to have crushed about a dozen small mice during the performance.

Crush videos came to major light last month when Simi Valley Republican Congressman Elton Gallegly announced federal legislation to ban the videos. Actor and animal rights activist Mickey Rooney was at his side to condemn the videos.

Until then, crush videos were little known but apparently had generated a $1 million dollar cottage industry, with the videos themselves - bearing titles like Vicious in Las Vegas and Mistress Di and featuring erotically-clad women stomping small animals to death - selling at up to $100 apiece, according to some reports.
