Veteran graphic artist Michael Bushler has launched his own production company called FYA Independent, which will be distributed exclusively by Avalon Enterprises.
Bushler, owner of Phase One Graphics which makes box covers and artwork for numerous adult companies, stressed that he would not be competing with any of his clients with his new venture.
“The big thing about our company is that we’re doing just about everything and we’re doing it with a sense of fun,” Bushler told AVN.com Monday. “I went into this because I have 30 years of making other companies No. 1. I started so many companies in this business by doing their artwork and their campaigns, and I want to start doing it myself instead of for other people. We still do the No. 1 boxes out there.”

Bushler is working with a pair of creative minds from Europe, Fhraunze and Yawney, on FYA Independent. The duo writes, produces and directs for FYA.
“These two guys are the most hilarious people in the world. They’re absolutely insane,” Bushler said. “They’ve been known in Europe for years, and have been on the other side [mainstream] for so long. They’ve done a couple adult releases over there, and they work a lot with the European market, but now they’re completely mine.”
FYA Independent’s first release is The Education of Bobbi Blaze, which comes out today featuring FYA exclusive contract girl Bobbi Blaze.
“She’s an erotic dancer here in L.A. and has a big following and always wanted to get into doing X-rated movies, so this is her education into the X-rated movies,” Bushler said. “This one was actually done 98 percent by me. She does a hell of an anal scene with Alex Sanders. It’s very hot and very real.”
Bushler said that FYA boxes would all be done in fluorescent colors, or “day-glows” because “they really stand out on the shelves.”
FYA’s second release is a collaboration with Ignite Video called The Fetish Zone 1: Kick Him When He’s Down, which will be released on Nov. 14. Chantz Fortune, a fem-dom, wrote and directed the female domination video that features Mistress Julie Simone.
FYA Independent’s third feature, WifeOrama, also comes out on Nov. 14. WifeORama is a series about married women whose husbands are neglecting them.
“They see an ad I’ve run in LA Weekly, and they come to me to make a video to show their husbands,” Bushler explained. “We used some very pretty girls from the business. It’s a series where the girls get back at their husbands or boyfriends or lovers for not paying enough attention to them. There is single masturbation and some guy-girl stuff, and some group stuff in the future. It’s all done with a sense of humor, but the sex we keep as hot as possible.”
Bushler, the veteran photographer and designer who was one of the first men working with 8mm loops, indicated that plans are for FYA to release four titles per month through Avalon.
