British Performer Carla Mai Passes Away

LOS ANGELES—The family of British adult performer Carla Mai on Monday announced she had passed away.

In a statement posted to Mai's Twitter account @CarlaMai1 that had been updated by her sister, the family said, "As has already been announced our beautiful, quirky, one-off daughter, sister and friend sadly passed away at 4:47 p.m. on Monday 18th July 2016.

"If Facebook and Twitter comments are anything to go by her legacy she leaves behind are memories for friends and family alike that were lucky enough to share in her fun and enthusiasm for life and the loyalty shown to those she cared about. The family thank you for your sympathy and condolences as it gives a little comfort at this hard time."

Mai sustained severe head injuries in what was described as a "catastrophic fall" last week, her family said in an earlier post, but did not elaborate further about how the accident happened.

Condolences poured in on social media for the popular fetish performer from Brighton, who credits in recent years included titles for DDF Productions, Joy Bear Pictures, Filly Films and Porno Dan Presents.

The @PaulRaymondMags Twitter account posted, "We are truly devastated to hear the sad news that @CarlaMai1 is no longer with us. Our thoughts are with her family & friends #RIP."

Fellow British performer Daisy Rock tweeted, "@CarlaMai1 lost her fight for her life today, such an amazing beautiful girl, I'm heartbroken like so many others. RIP Chica U are so loved."

"I don't know anyone that didn't get on with Aimee," U.K. performer Rebecca More said on Twitter, referring to Mai's legal name. "She was a very well liked young lady and very fun with it. Sad news reach us all today and anyone who met Aimee will know how sad it is to know she lost her life today. My heart and love is with her closest friends and obviously her family. Rest in peace Aimee."

Emily B, Chloe Lovette, Jasmine James and Brooklyn Blue were among numerous other performers who took to Twitter to share their condolences.

"Just heard the news about @CarlaMai1 absolutely shocked," Blue tweeted. "I don't even no what to say. I'm So so so sorry!!"

Mai was also a chef with a Level 3 diploma.
