Brit Film Classification Board Won't Challenge High Court

The British Board of Film Classification won't appeal the High Court of London ruling which allows porn videos to be sold in sex shops. nrnThe BBFC had first mulled an appeal of the May 16 ruling, which involved seven porn videos the board had refused to classify. The High Court upheld the BBFC's Video Appeals Committee, which passed the seven for an R18 rating and distribution only in licensed sex-oriented shops. The board will, however, reconsider their R18 guidelines for future materials. nrnThe case involved two production companies (Sheptonhurst, Ltd. and Prime Time Promotions, Ltd.) and seven titles (Horny Catbabe, Nympho Nurse Nancy, T.V. Sex, Office Tart, Carnival International Version, Wet Nurses 2 Continental Version and Miss Nude International Continental Version). nrnThe BBFC took it to the High Court after the VAC passed the videos in August 1999, saying the VAC had interpreted the Video Recordings Act's definition of harm incorrectly.
