Brian Surewood Held on Attempted Murder Charges

LOS ANGELES - Adult performer Brian Surewood, a.k.a. Brian Barnes, 44, is being held by police along with 19-year-old Armando Ayon on charges of attempted murder following a traffic incident Tuesday that resulted in the hospitalization of a 31-year-old mother and her two children, one of whom is listed in critical condition.

As reported by KNBC.com, Barnes and Ayon appeared to be engaged in a street race, traveling between 50 and 90 mph westbound on Sherman Way. At 3:12 p.m., Barnes, who was driving a red Camaro, slammed on his brakes, and Ayon, in a black Nissan, swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision, only to smash into a silver Daewoo, which in turn struck the three family members and pinned them against a black Honda Civic.

The child in critical condition is 4 years old, the other's age 2 ½ months. Said LAPD Capt. Ronald Marbrey to KNBC, "The 4-year-old is in extremely grave condition. We don't know if the child is going to make it. Doctors are very skeptical on that. They're doing everything they can, but it does not look good for the 4-year-old."

If the child dies, Barnes and Ayon both will be charged with murder, according to the story. Marbrey told reporter Robert Kovacik that the mother will probably lose one leg, and that her other leg was also severely crushed. The 2 ½-month-old suffered severe scrapes and injuries.

AVN confirmed with close friend and colleague to Barnes David Aaron Clark that Barnes turned himself in to police and is currently in custody.

"A bunch of us are trying to get him out as we speak," Clark said. "Brian Surewood is the greatest guy in the world, and that's all I have to say right now."

AVN will report more details of this story as it develops.
