LOS ANGELES—Axel Braun's slate of summer blockbuster parodies is looking as gangbusters as Hollywood's, with his Man of Steel XXX: An Axel Braun Parody just wrapped and set for release from Vivid Entertainment on the same day as the big screen Superman reboot after which it's modeled, June 14.
“It was an epic undertaking, and I’m totally thrilled with the result,” Braun said. “I think I pushed my compulsive attention to detail to a whole new level with the costumes ... it might not mean much by Hollywood standards, but each of our Man of Steel XXX suits costs more than the entire budget of most porn movies.”
Braun is particularly excited about the above-pictured black outfit his Superman (played by Ryan Driller) wears in the movie in addition to the classic red/blue one.
“Supes has donned a black outfit before in the comics,” Braun noted, “most memorably in the Death and Return of Superman storyline from 1992, which is one of my favorites.”
Driller also played the flying hero for Braun in 2011's Superman XXX: A Porn Parody, but the director says this incarnation of the character is far different.
"This Clark Kent is not the fumbling dork of the Christopher Reeve movies," Braun explained. "He's a handsome, successful reporter. The level of commitment and professionalism that Ryan Driller brought to this show are absolutely unprecedented. This is the character that made his career, and he really has a special connection to it."
Braun said his original screenplay for Man of Steel XXX features a much larger cast of characters from the Superman universe than his first foray into it. “No Zod, but definitely more boobs,” he cracked.
The full lineup includes Lex Luthor (fellow director Eli Cross), Batman (Giovanni Francesco, reprising the role he originated in Braun’s The Dark Knight XXX), Wonder Woman (Kimberly Kane), Lois Lane (Kirsten Price), Lana Lang (Samantha Ryan), Livewire (Sasha Knox), Silver Banshee (Skin Diamond), Angle Man (Alan Stafford), Dr. Fate (Eric Masterson), Zatanna (Kendall Karson) and Bizarro (Billy Glide).
Braun was honored in January at the AVN Awards as Best Director - Parody for his work on the blockbuster hit Star Wars XXX, and made history by winning the Director of the Year (Body of Work) award for his third consecutive year, a feat never before accomplished by anybody in the adult industry.
