Adult industry veteran Bob Johnson, 51, has been appointed chief operating officer of Private North America.
Johnson's duties entail overseeing all operations of Private North America. He plans on keeping the staff he inherited from Private North America executive manager Victoria Montbriand, who has been moved to Private Canada to develop the global adult company's brand there.
"First and foremost we want to continue the very strong sales effort of the Private brand. We're doing some new exciting stuff such as creating some American video lines," Johnson told AVN.com. "There's going to be an increase in marketing and an Americanization of the brand."
Citing the success of the epic porn Private Gladiator, which Johnson said helps drive sales of all of Private's titles, one of the new American lines will make high end features on the same scale as the award-winning action-porn. Another line will produce low-end features, and the third line will create reality-based gonzos. The American-produced Private lines will begin in three months.
Before joining Private, Johnson was busy making adult videos through his independent Blue Horizon Media production company for High Society, Cheri, and other adult magazines.
Besides video production, highlights of Johnson's 15 year career in adult include a stint as VP of Editorial at Crescent Publishing, which publishes High Society, Cheri and Playgirl, among others, and establishing the Web operations of Vivid Entertainment.
"Basically, I'm a triple-threat. Print, Web and video. That fits very well with Private North America," Johnson said.
"It's very exciting to work with a global brand like Private. I think we're going to see some incredible growth in the next couple of years," Johnson added. "Our mission and our passion is to cater to the needs of our distributors and retailers first and foremost."
