Blatt Quits YNOT

Kevin Blatt has left YNOT Network, saying he's unhappy with the direction taken by the company's new parent, Flying Crocodile.

"I'm upset, because I put my heart into this company," said Blatt, who had served as YNOT's vice president of marketing and sales. Blatt declined to give details about the split, saying he'd reached "a settlement" with Flying Crocodile that included an agreement "not to bash" one another.

Blatt did say that his decision to leave was based on Flying Crocodile's desire to make YNOT "more corporate," a philosophy which he said is anathema to his way of doing business. "I don't fault them for that," he noted. "They have a great thing going. They're very smart. The guys who run [Flying Crocodile] are just geniuses. However, to me, I feel that adult businesses are exactly what they are: adult businesses, aimed toward adults. Putting a corporate structure into the adult business is almost like an oxymoron."

Blatt said his brother, D-Money, will remain on the company's board of directors and as part of the "ultimate sponsors panel" Flying Crocodile mastermind Andrew Edmond is putting together to unite Webmasters.

Edmond was unavailable for comment.

For his part, Blatt is planning to take two weeks of vacation before "getting back to business," including a live Webcast of porn star Houston's labia and breast surgery, scheduled for April 15 at Kara's Adult Playground (www.karasXXX.com). Blatt says he'll also investigate other ventures, including work as a consultant.

YNOT announced its merger with Flying Crocodile (which owns SexTracker, SexList, and XXXCounter) at the January ia2000 in Las Vegas. Ironically, Blatt joined YNOT at a time last year when the company was suffering defections to NetPond. Blatt is often credited with shepherding YNOT's turnaround into a major player in the adult Net world.
