'Blacks' Gallery Opens in Hollywood

"Blacks," a group art exhibition curated by Carlos Batts that has been two-and-a-half years in the making, opened on Feb. 14 at the Antebellum Gallery.

In addition to Batts' pieces, the show features the work of Belasco, Alva Bernadin, George Pitts, Renee Cox, Marc Baptiste and John Howard.

"The best part about 'Blacks' is the opportunity to showcase new works from around the world," Batts told AVN. "We have artists from London, New York, Minnesota and L.A." among other locales.

Batts said his vision was to combine "race, sex and culture all in one place" without any ego or money-driven motivations. Among the adult personalities spotted on opening night were Ashley Blue, Dave Naz, Paulina James and Rick Shameless.

The exhibit will continue in L.A. through April 4, before moving to Montreal and Phoenix. Antebellum Gallery is located at 1643 N. Las Palmas. Call 323.856.0667 for more information. To learn more about the curator, visit www.carlosbatts.com.
