Express Newspapers owner Richard Desmond is said to be looking to rid himself of his adult magazines in a bid to enhance his credibility as a prospective buyer of the London Daily Telegraph. The Manchester Guardian has reported Desmond sold 45 such titles, including Asian Babes and Big Ones to an unidentified pair of businessmen for about $US36.7 million. Desmond denies the timing of that deal links to his effort to buy the Telegraph, telling the Guardian he's been trying to sell his adult titles for ten years.
"It's a nice thing for the staff," Desmond said. "They have been working for a company that was not interested in the magazines. They now have owners who have put the money up and will do a good job."
