The first annual Best Adult Awards ceremony for the adult Internet will be held September 4 during the Qwebec Expo, with free admission to all Expo attendees.
The awards will honor adult Websites and Webmasters, with nominations in more than 35 categories – including Best Amateurs Site, Best Fetish Site, Best MegaSite, Best Reality Site, Best Affiliate Program, and many more – taken until June 15, with the final nominees to be announced June 30. The judging will begin in July and continue throughout August.
The mastermind of the Best Adult Awards, Michael Plant of 3X Web Design, said he got the idea when he attended the 2004 AVN Awards Show.
"I was there when I had this flash," he said. "In the adult Internet industry we don't have this kind of effort. We have the XBiz Awards, giving prizes for best design, best content, but it's really only involving for the companies. There's no awards out there for the best Websites, the best performers."
Plant said he sat during the AVN Awards and wondered why the adult Internet didn't have such a ceremony "with the presenters, the band, all the hype around it.
"I had that flash, and the next day I was working on the Adult Entertainment Expo floor and spoke to some of my friends," continued Plant, who has done adult Website design since 1996. "And I said ‘Hey, you know what, I have this kind of idea – let's say we do a kind of AVN Awards for the Websites.’ And then, some people put some more ideas into that one. ‘You can do this, you can do that.’ And one thing led to another, and that's where we are now."
So far, YNOT Masters and the TAG-Network (The Adult Gigabyte) have signed on as Platinum Sponsors for the show, with Plant's own 3X Web Design and Progmatixxx signed up as Gold Sponsors.
Platinum Sponsorships are $1,400 each and include a front-row table for 10 at the ceremony, company video clip and mention during the awards ceremony, 30 drink tickets, a full-page show program ad, a banner on top of all Best Adult Awards site pages, and a 10 percent discount on Qwebec Expo regular booth space.
Bar Sponsorships at $2,000 get a front row table for 10 at the ceremony, 300 drink tickets, company mention during the ceremony, a half-page show program ad, and a banner and bio text on the show's Sponsors page, among other things.
Gold Sponsorships at $600 get one Qwebec Expo show badge, a one-third page ad in the show program, show booklet mention as a sponsor, a button on the bottom of all Best Adult Awards site pages, and a button and short bio text on the site's Spnosors page, among other perks.
Silver Sponsorships at $200 get a show badge for the expo, a mention in the show booklet and during the banquet, and a text link on the Sponsors page.
"We are trying our best to give the best show as we can and keep it very affordable for everyone," Plant said. "Perhaps in five years we hope to [be able to] spend a million dollars a show at least."
Awards judges will have their own table reserved for the ceremonial banquet and have their photo, a short bio, and a link to their home Website posted on the Best Adult Awards Website's Judges page.
