CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Barely MILF, which ships this week on Adam & Eve's Bad Seed gonzo imprint, was designed to fill a "missing niche" in the heavily pigeonholed world of adult video, according to its director, Will Ryder.
"We tend to categorize MILFs as a little bit older and a little bit less attractive than the cute young new girls we're always shooting," he said. But the stars of Barely MILF—Mariah Milano, Nikki Fairchild, Lachelle, Holly West, Sienna West—constitute a "middle ground" between full-blown MILFs and fresh young things.
Top billed is comeback queen Mariah Milano (formerly Mariah). "When I first met her," Rider said, "I thought she was adorable. Now she has matured but she's still the sweet sexy Mariah I used to know-a sweet girl but a freak on the couch."
The box cover bills Milano's appearance as her "first scene in seven years," and whether or not that's absolutely accurate, it is indeed one of the first scenes she did after briefly returning to mainstream porn last year. She lives in Florida, where she shoots content for her website.
Another comeback girl is Nikki Fairchild, a lovely, light-skinned African-American model. "She's always been a favorite of mine," Ryder said. Oddly enough, both Milano and Fairchild were in the second movie directed by Ryder, Porn Star Pop Star, which had a rather short shelf life in 2003.
Ryder deliberately avoided the "reality-based" look of most MILF videos. Each scene starts off with a humorous sketch, but he said, "We wanted to shoot them with high production values and great lighting, to make everything look beautiful.
"We hit a home run. These girls are gorgeous."
