New Sensations/Digital Sin officially announced the signing of director Axel Braun to an exclusive, long-term contract, and he is already preparing to release his first line for the company, Anal Retentive, which streets later this month.
“It’s straight sex with a minor lead in,” Braun explained. “It’s really strong, really hardcore. There’s no pussy, it’s straight to ass. It’s got Taylor Rain, Ashley Blue, Katja Kassin. It’s pretty cool.”
Once he is rolling he expects to release four titles each month. He will also shoot one film every year.
Braun was nominated for several trophies at the AVN Awards in January, including Best Director — Film (Compulsion) and Best Director — Non-Feature (Sodomania 40). He won Best Screenplay for Compulsion. Adam Film World also recently awarded Braun with Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay for Compulsion.
“Once a year I will shoot a real, high-budget film in 35 millimeter,” Braun told AVN.com. “The one this year I’m going to shoot in May. And then I will shoot a bunch of different lines — I have an anal line, an interracial line, a big tit line.”
Braun joins the company on the heels of popular director Jonni Darkko’s defection to Evil Angel.
“I have my own style, so it’s different,” Braun said. “[President] Scott Taylor told me that what I shoot compliments what they are shooting perfectly. Jonni and Tyrone [Shuz] had very similar shooting styles and they were putting out something like 16 titles a month and it tends to look the same, which is good until people get bored with it. I’m doing my own thing, but of course I’m adjusting to the company’s tastes.”
Braun says his contractual obligations will keep him very busy, shooting two days a week and then editing his hard and soft material the rest of the week.
“The advantage is that the company is incredibly supportive as far as taking care of all the bullshit,” Braun said. “The stuff that I hate is booking talent, booking the location, and dealing with all the bureaucracy. I can’t stand it. They take care of all this. Every time I shoot a feature it’s madness because it’s such a long process. New Sensations has a great production manager in Renee and I just call her whenever there is a problem and she takes care of it. The other advantage is that I really like Scott, he’s a fucking cool guy. I feel very comfortable with them.
“I am the hardest working man in porn,” Braun said. “It’s a lot of work, but I’m truly, truly happy.”
