Australian Teen Had 30,000 Child Porn Images: Police

As Australia's crackdown on Internet child porn continues, authorities are said to have found a computer with an estimated 30,000 child porn files on its hard drive – stored by a 17-year-old boy.

The boy, whose name was withheld because of his age, was said to have been arrested February 3 when Hawkesbury police searched a home under warrant in Sydney's northwest area and found the computer system.

The warrant was obtained as part of an apparent international probe, according to Australian press reports which said the probe began last March when German investigators joined those in New South Wales to expose and stop child porn distribution.

The New South Wales Child Exploitation Internet Unit and Australian federal police were said to have helped investigate the teenager prior to his arrest.

The boy could face between two and five years in prison if he's convicted, under a new provision of Australian law that lifts a police restriction on having to rely strictly on the country's Office of Film and Literature Classification guidelines to deem material child porn, according to New South Wales officials.
