Ashley Blue Named <i>AVN</i>'s Female Performer of the Year

"I never thought I'd be cool enough for this one," squealed petite Ashley Blue. "This sounds really dumb, but I thought I was going to get Best New Starlet, so this is like a whole bigger deal, and I'm really happy."

Of course, it's rare to see Ashley Blue not happy; every time she comes into AVN's offices, she's sporting a broad, infectious (in a good way) grin.

Perhaps all that anal sex really agrees with her.

Blue's performed in over 125 features, working mainly for gonzo companies such as Red Light District, Platinum X and Zero Tolerance, though more recently, she's established a comic character for herself in JM Productions' Girlvert series, which itself received nominations this year — so when AVN asked her to name her favorite role, the answer was obvious.

"Probably Girlvert 4," she said. "Girlvert won Best Continuing Series, and we're so happy for it, because that was the funniest movie I've ever done. After doing that one, I got lots of offers for some more scripted acting work in porn, but before the Girlvert movies, I was just like this little gonzo bitch. I want to do scripts; they're fun."

Wicked? Vivid? Any takers?

But at present, Blue is mainly known as a gal who can do some of the best anal scenes in the business. More than half of her roles have involved anal, often d.p., and in those anal scenes, almost always ass-to-mouth.

That's a far cry, though, from the slightly shy gal who fucked Trent Tesoro in More Dirty Debutantes "2002", Vol. 227, her debut performance. In fact, she's still getting used to it all — and now getting used to winning top female honors for her work in 2003.

"I'm still pretty much in shock from it all," she told AVN.com. "I never expected to get this because I was up against so many big porn stars. I feel really cool, but it's kind of like, God, what do I do? It's all kind of scary, because isn't this like the highest award a girl performer can get? What am I supposed to do next year? The only other way to go is down — but maybe that's just me being like melancholy."

Ashley Blue? Melancholy? Not a chance!
