LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) will feature the work of Vivid Alt’s Eon McKai, Vena Virago and AVN award-winning performer Buck Angel during its “Lust 4 LACE” show on Valentine’s Day.
Organized by Virago and David Burns, the exhibition will showcase
explicit live performances and videos from dozens of Southern
California artists. Sex-positive retailer Babeland will host a
display of “kinky crafts” from JP Craft Captain, while DJs John Tejada, Henry
Self and Robert Crouch provide music for the event.
"This is the exact type of thing that I want to see happen," McKai
told AVN. "This is where interesting stuff is happening, and tomorrow's
pornography is gaining a voice. This is real art; this is the real art world in
Los Angeles, with
pornographers commingling. Artists have always been on the cutting edge of all
kinds of freaky shit, so to me, that's always been kind of a natural
connection. But I think an event like Lust 4 LACE can kind of bridge that
gap."
Lust 4 LACE 2008 coincides with the venue’s 30th anniversary.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the nonprofit organization’s mission to
document and preserve Los Angeles
art.
Admission is $10, and doors open at 8 p.m. Thursday.
LACE is located at 6522 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, 90028. For more information, go to www.welcometolace.org.
