CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Count Anna Paquin as a fan of porn. The star of HBO’s hit vampire drama True Blood liked the New Sensations parody of her show so much she decided to gift it to the cast and crew.
Paquin appeared on TBS’ Lopez Tonight last night and admitted that she purchased every copy of Tru: A XXX Parody that she could find.
“You know, actually what's interesting is that [fellow cast member] Steve [Moyer] and I were so amused by it that we got it for everyone on our cast and crew as a wrap gift so I think we probably bought every copy in existence,” Paquin told host George Lopez.
Lopez then whipped out a copy provided by New Sensations and quipped, “You know you’ve really made it when your show inspires a pornographic film.”

“Any time one of our movies is featured on a mainstream show as like Lopez Tonight, we see a spike in sales,” New Sensations vice president of sales Belle Casten said. “First-time consumers of adult entertainment will pick up a copy of Tru: A XXX Parody due to their piqued curiosity, so it’s a good time for distributors and stores to stock up. The taboo of adult entertainment begins to fade when a popular show like Lopez Tonight or TMZ shows it is OK to indulge themselves.”
The attention Tru received on Lopez’s show wasn’t the first mainstream exposure it received. Upon its release in March the parody was prominently featured on entertainment sites including PerezHilton.com, Jezebel.com, PopWatch.com, BestWeekEver.tv, NYMag.com and ScreenJunkies.com.
When Entertainment Weekly spoke with True Blood creator Alan Ball, he told the magazine, ''We just found out that they're doing a porn parody of True Blood. That's certainly a moment of going ‘Wow, we've arrived.’”
Tru: A XXX Parody stars Ashlynn Brooke, James Deen, Misty Stone, Bill Bailey, Gracie Glam, Johnny Castle, Lana Violet, Levi Cash, Lindy Lane, Shay Sights and Vanessa Naughty.
