American Hardcore Sponsors Ironman Competition

American Hardcore recently sponsored 50 competitors for the famed Hermosa Beach Iron Man, held annually every July 4, for the past 20 years.

During the competition, entrants run a mile along the beach and then paddle a mile through the sea. What makes this particular event different is that when athletes get back on the beach, they must chug a six-pack. The competitor who keeps it down wins. The event draws thousands of spectators as well as hundreds of participants.

T.J. DiReda, co-owner of American Hardcore, told AVN.com that each American Hardcore competitor had “Body by Bud Light” written on their stomach and AH on their backs. DiReda went on to explain that the 50 guys had a cheering section that included the Bud Light Girls and at least two local homeless men that were paid to hold towels and hand out the beer can batons to the team.

“We had to carefully select our athletes for this competition, which meant seriously calculating athleticism, gut size and a sheer desire for mediocrity,” joked DiReda. “We are really proud that 10 AH competitors finished in the top 30.

“American Hardcore will be teaming up with Jagermeister in August for the Manhattan Beach 6 Man Volley Ball Tournament.”

After the competition, AH and Shark Energy drink hosted the Iron Man closing Fourth of July party at Dragon on the Hermosa Beach Pier.
