Alves, ToXXXic line go to Metro

Greg Alves, lately general manager of Elegant Angel and proprietor of his own ToXXXic Productions line, is now vice president and general manager of Metro Home Video.\n It all happened quickly, according to Alves.\n "I got a call from the big brass at Metro, and they had heard of some of the stuff I was doing, and heard that I was available. He talked to me about what he had here as a company, some of the things he wanted to change, and how I'd fit into that scenario. We talked on the phone, back and forth, for about three days. On the third day I was on a plane back to Rhode Island.\n "He made me an offer, and it was a real good offer. The company's got great potential. Some things need changing, and we're working on the focus of the company, and I think it's going to be a really good thing for him and for me."\n Alves described his split with Eli at All Good Video as "amicable," and points out that the first ToXXXic video, Shut Up and Blow Me, was released under the All Good label. Shut Up and Blow Me director Dana St. Pierre is still on board with Alves at ToXXXic.\n "There are going to be a lot of new things going on," Alves said. "The Soho feature is a thing of the past: We have a few [completed] that we will release. We'll release four titles a month under the ToXXXic Entertainment label, and also the Amazing line will continue. We're bringing back the Casting Call line: The first one will be released in August, shot by Alex Sanders.\n "We're going to be putting out Nothing to Hide Part 3. You may remember 1 and 2. [Nothing to Hide Part 2, also known as Justine, won eight AVN Awards in 1994.] That will be released in February 1999. \n "We'll also be shooting twelve pictures a year on film," he continued, "with people like James Avalon, Philip Mond, Nic Cramer. And we'll have Michael Zen and Jace Rocker on the video side. Philip Mond and James Avalon will also be shooting some high-end video stuff. This will all come out under our Cal Vista label, in the wrap box."\n Alves added, "We also have great plans for DVD. We'll have multiple camera angles through every single sex scene from beginning to end, with all the cameras in sync. Sometimes in the second angle, the sex is happening in a different spot. We won't have that. We'll also have a director's cut, with a second audio track, and behind-the-scenes footage as well."\n Alves promises a focus on quality "from the ground up. Basically, we're going to be giving the customer more bang for the buck. I look at everything as a consumer: If I bought this product for $39 or $49, would I feel like I got a good deal or not?\n "And I'm going to stand behind that, for everything we're shooting from here forward; we're going to look at it before we release it and if I don't feel that it's a good value, we're not going to release it. And that's just the way it is."
