Alicia Silverstone Joins Cast of Broadway Porn Comedy

NEW YORK—Alicia Silverstone, who is still probably best known for her star turn as Cher Horowitz in the 1995 comedy Clueless, has joined the Broadway cast of The Performers, a new comedy about the porn industry by David West Read that will have its world premiere at the Longacre Theater in November. Silverstone was last seen on the Great White Way in 2010 in a play titled Time Stands Still.

According to Variety, "The casting of Silverstone's role had been the final piece of the puzzle in filling out the six-actor cast of Performers, which stars Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock) and Daniel Breaker (Shrek the Musical) as two old friends who reunite at the Adult Film Awards. Silverstone and Ari Graynor (Relatively Speaking) portray the women in the men's lives, while Winkler is on board as a porn industry veteran."

Though the action takes place at a presumably fictitious "Adult Film Awards," does anyone doubt what real-life awards show they have in mind?

Previews are scheduled to begin Oct. 23 in anticipation of a Nov. 14 opening. Tickets can be ordered here.
