Al-Jazeera Beats Sex Online

How can an Arab news Website beat sex online? Easy - when the Arab news Website gets hit by hackers on more than one in the past week, stirring up the curiosity and provoking it to get more search hits than "sex".

That's what's happened to Al-Jazeera, whose Website got hacked several times by supporters of the U.S.-Iraq war after it ran footage showing dead and captive American soldiers as first presented on Iraqi television. Google reported Al-Jazeera getting the largest increase in search-engine runs for the week ending March 31, and Lycos reported the news site being its top search term for the same week, according to CNN.

Al-Jazeera was hit with one attack involving a flood of fake traffic in the final full week of March. The same week, a hack group calling itself "Freedom Cyber Force Militia" diverted those visiting Al-Jazeera's English-language pages to a page showing an American flag, CNN said. The English site's managing editor said the site would be restored with new protective measures by April 2.
