Vice President Al Gore met with some major representatives within the Internet industry on May 5. The topic under discussion was a safe and entertaining Web for children.
TV on the Web ran an exclusive, live Webcast of the historic White House meeting with the Vice President. Meeting participants included major Internet businesses and online providers, including America Online, AT&T, International Business Machines, Yahoo!, and the Walt Disney Co. The representatives agreed to create sites offering parents tips and software to keep children from viewing Websites with violent, pornographic, or other content inappropriate for children.
