Adult Video Featuring Taylor Sumers Attracting Morbid Curiosity

Once news of Natel King’s murder broke on Tuesday, it became apparent that she was virtually unknown in the adult industry though international headlines billed her as a “porn star.” The reason little was known about her was simple: the aspiring porn starlet, who had done some photo shoots under the name Taylor Sumers, had only appeared in one adult video that anybody knows about.

Vol. 6, featuring Sumers.

Naughty College Couples Vol. 6, featuring Taylor Sumers, was released in December of 2003. Sumers is the box cover model for the title.

Once the title was discovered after her death the phones began “ringing off the hooks” at Valley Pro Video/ IAAV, the company distributing the title in the United States, according the Frank Carulli, the company’s vice-president of marketing.

“First and foremost, we at Valley Pro Video/IAAV would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Miss Natel King,” an official company statement that was distributed to the media read. “It is our sincerest hope that the person responsible for this horrible incident will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Carulli said that the interest in Naughty College Couples Vol. 6 was somewhat morbid.

“We’re in porn so it’s not like I’m a Mr. Sensitive, but some of these phone calls are out of line,” Carulli said. “We got a call asking if we had the ‘dead girl’ video. That kinda stops you in your tracks.”

“One retailer ordered a bunch and told me he was putting them in the window of his stores,” Carulli said. “I think that’s kinda morbid.”

The video was shot in Canada sometime in October of last year. The title was produced by In-X-Cess Productions.

Carulli reports receiving calls from retailers, individuals, and the media, including CNN, who sought to obtain a clip to air during their coverage of King's murder, though Valley Pro Video didn't have those rights.

Echoing a popular sentiment in porn valley this week, Carulli said that he hopes that what happened to King serves as a wake-up call to the women in adult.

“The lesson to me is that these girls shouldn’t be going to these shoots alone. A lot of this stuff is preventable,” Carulli said. “Don’t go anywhere without your husband or boyfriend or some type of protection. Arrange with a friend to call the police if you don’t check in at a certain time. You never what you are getting in to.”
