Adult Supersource Hosts Open House XXXtravaganza

The Adult Supersource held its annual open house event today - the largest one that the company has ever had - and while the weather didn’t totally cooperate with 20-to 30-mile-per-hour winds chilling the scantily clad porn girls present and making the tents’ supports creak, there was no denying the absolute star power present and the great customer appreciation impact of the event.

Several hundred retailers took advantage of The Adult Supersource’s plans for the day, which included special, today-only reduced prices on DVD and novelty product. Refreshments included burgers and hot dogs that were consumed happily in the beer and wine garden sponsored by Wicked Pictures. A deejay, sponsored by Video Team, blasted the classic Salt N’ Pepa tune, "Let’s Talk About Sex" while retailers filled their shopping carts with the bargains and got posters signed for their stores by the shivering but still hot female performers.

Timothy Krupp, co-owner of the two-store Intimates Adult Superstore chain based out of Lodi, Calif., was one of those happy Adult Supersource customers with a loaded cart.

“The Adult Supersource has great customer service and the atmosphere of this show is great," Krupp said. "There’s always some new novelties to check out at this show every year. This show is a great way to get information on everything that they carry."

Another local customer of the Adult Supersource, Tatiana Belladine, a professional dominatrix working out of Fantasy Makers in Berkeley, was stocking up on lubes for her business.

“I’ve been a customer of the Adult Supersource for years and the show allows you to talk to all different manufacturers and they can tell you so, so much about their products," Belladine said. "You can also drop a lot of hints about things you would like to see in the future and it’s nice to be able to put a bug in the ear of the people who make this stuff."

Adult Supersource General Manager Bob Wolf was pleased with the day as well.

“It started quiet but the crowd picked up like crazy," he said. "Sales are ringing, ringing, ringing. How could I not be happy with the day? This is always a labor-intensive event for us but it’s so much fun too. Our customers always get excited about this day whether they are buying a little or buying a lot or not buying anything. They are here and it’s not intended to be a moneymaking event for us. It’s a way to thank our loyal customers and that’s the most important thing to us."

Production companies present for the invitation-only retailer event were Vivid Entertainment Group, Wicked Pictures, Mayhem, Sin City, Pleasure Productions, Zero Tolerance, Third Degree, Juicy, Anabolic, Video Team, Club Jenna, New Sensations, Metro Studios, Acid Rain, Evil Angel, Hustler Video and Red Light District, among others. Adult novelty manufacturers California Exotic Novelties, Doc Johnson, M.D. Science Lab, Nasswalk, Spartacus Leathers and Topco Sales, among others, all attended as well.

Some of the performers who made it out to the Bay for the retailers included Club Jenna contract performer Sophia Rossi, Wicked Pictures contract performer Keri Sable, Sin City contract director/performer Hannah Harper, Extreme Associates contract performers Paris Gables and Gia Paloma, Platinum Blue Productions non-exclusive performer Tiffany Taylor and Platinum X Pictures/Red Light District exclusives Bambi and Brianna Love, along with Alexis Amore, Rita Faltoyano, Courtney Cummz, Sandra Romain, Tyla Winn, Nikki Hilton, Britney Rears, Brittney Skye, Mika Tan and Kaylynn. Directors Cousin Stevie, T.T. Boy, Skye Blue, Pat Myne and Rob Rotten also were present.

Sable, sporting her new burgundy and brown locks, enjoyed her first time signing for a retailer event, saying, “It’s interesting and it’s fun. I’m really glad to be here and to be signing my Dark Sins poster for people.”

Gables, curled up in a blanket on her signing chair to shield herself from the wind, happily signed fliers for her upcoming Lizzie Borden release, D.O.A.

This has been a cool show. I’m not sure if I’ve met any retailers but I’ve met some cute guys. Hopefully, they are retailers,” Gables said with a giggle.

Blue, founder of new company Platinum Blue Productions, was attending the show as a company owner for the first time and enjoyed the reception her product was getting.

“I am loving this show," Blue said. "I’m meeting a lot of great people and selling product like crazy."

VCA’s VP of sales and marketing, Peter Reynolds, was pleased with the day as well.

“I’ve had the chance to talk to a bunch of retailers today and that’s the main thing," he said as he readied more fliers for Rears to sign. "It’s a cool way to get information on how our product is doing and tell them what new things VCA is doing and to keep spreading the word on how we celebrate the old VCA by re-releasing the classics on DVD but it’s also a new day and the new VCA is coming out with a lot of really cool things and the feedback on what we’ve been doing is really good."

Raffles were held for DVD/VCR combo decks along with multiple gift baskets and a Mexican cruise vacation. The proceeds benefited the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (www.bcef-sf.org), along with a drive to aid the Red Cross' Hurricane Relief Fund.
