Adult Source Media (ASM), a producer and distributor of Japanese adult anime, will release Night Shift Nurses: Kranke Volume 1 on Thursday. The title continues the best-selling adult animated series, to which ASM recently acquired worldwide rights.
"[Night Shift Nurses] is the most popular anime series that Japan has ever produced," John Amatucci, VP of Sales at ASM, told AVN.com. "We had to go through a major bidding war to get it, and now that we have it, we think it's going to be a huge hit."
Amatucci explained that Adult Source Media will press forward by releasing one episode a month of the continuing anime series.
"The series takes place in a hospital and features one of the most demented doctors around," explained Amatucci. "He does some pretty crazy stuff…stuff that regular actors just couldn't do. The movie is a crazy, fun, sexual romp that will really shock and awe people. There's some pretty unspeakable stuff in this one.
"We are ecstatic to release what is by far the most highly anticipated adult anime series to be released in 2007," added ASM President, Wendy Crawford. "The demand on pre-orders for this title has exceeded our expectations; we've never seen this much excitement from the adult community about an anime title before. We bought all the new episodes and we'll be releasing one per month moving forward."
