Adult DVD Empire Raises Stock

Online retailer Adult DVD Empire has improved their overall stocking habits to provide a better service for their customer base.

Throughout 2004, Adult DVD Empire maintained an average of 82 percent of items in stock. Through aggressive purchasing and inventory management, that percentage has already increased significantly—rising to 95 percent of adult DVDs in stock. The high in-stock percentage has led to record sales in the first quarter of 2005, the company reported.

Adult DVD Empire has kicked off 2005 with a $250,000-plus investment in inventory in addition to normal purchasing. The goal is twofold: the first being to have stock on for the 28,000-plus DVDs listed on adultdvdempire.com, and the second goal is to be able to offer all of the titles listed in the Adult DVD Empire database for the adult DVD rental program.

“In e-commerce, and more specifically adult video e-tailing, if the product is out of stock it’s far less likely to sell compared to an in-stock product,” said Mike Barry, director of adult operations for Adult DVD Empire. “We decided that if we were going to list a product for sale, we should have it in stock—period.”

In March, Adult DVD Empire experienced record sales.

“We’ve already seen the positive effects of our 100 percent in-stock goal,” said JT Smith director of marketing. “In March, we broke our one-month sales record and are on track to do even better in April. This is a direct result of our commitment to stocking the titles we carry. More titles available for purchase translates into more orders—and when the product is in stock, those orders ship out immediately.”

The company also ran a sponsorship on the Howard Stern Show at the end of March.
