LUMBERTON, N.C. – City officials have agreed to relocate the Lumberton Area Visitors Bureau after bureau employees expressed concern over an Adam & Eve novelty shop becoming its new neighbor. The city has been considering the move for years because of nearby nightclubs, but the close proximity of the adult-oriented business sealed the deal.
Mary Taylor, the director of the visitors bureau, told the Robesonian that she’s already fielded questions about the new sex shop.
“A lady was in here recently excited about being here,” she said, "and a couple comes in asking, 'Can you tell me where the Adam and Eve sex toy shop is?' Naturally, I wanted to go right through the concrete."
According to the report, the bureau plans to move by the end of the year.
