Adam & Eve Reports Q1 Increase

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.—Adam & Eve and AdamandEve.com announced Monday that its first-quarter sales and profits are up.

Despite the still struggling economy, Adam & Eve posted a 3 percent increase in sales and a 4 percent spike in profits over first quarter 2009.

"We are very pleased with the first quarter 2010 results," said Chad Davis, director of marketing for Adam & Eve. "We attribute this upswing to continued growth of online sales. Search Engine Optimization (natural search) improved drastically, and has no direct advertising cost. In addition, sales from offline marketing such as radio and television increased 57 percent over first quarter 2009. Our Valentine's season broke sales records."

Overall, internet sales from AdamandEve.com were up 11 percent during the first quarter of 2010 while sales from print sources continue to decrease.

"We believe the continued shift toward online sales has a lot to do with both so many customers converting from the catalog to the website, as well as first time customers discovering the benefits of
AdamandEve.com," Davis said. "The huge variety of quality adult-oriented products, as well as the ease and anonymity offered through ordering from AdamAndEve.com continues to be the reason we remain successful."
