Adam & Eve Increases Sales, Profits in 2nd Quarter

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.—Among collective economic belt-tightening, Adam & Eve has increased its sales and profits in the second quarter, according to the company.

In its quarterly report Adam & Eve has increased sales by 3 percent and profits by 7 percent.

The company attributes the uptick in sales to increased focus and revenue from its online sales division. Internet sales through AdamAndEve.com were up 8 percent in the quarter.

“As a company that is continually profitable, we are very pleased with the second quarter 2010 results,” Adam & Eve Director of Marketing Chad Davis said. “We attribute these numbers to the continued growth of online sales. Once again, natural and organic search results improved dramatically—150 percent—without adding any direct advertising cost.”

Adam & Eve Internet Marketing Manager Rich Atlas attributes the growth “to a long-term keyword and content-driven strategy that embraces customer needs while meeting search engine requirements.”

In addition, sales from offline marketing such as radio and television increased 14 percent over second quarter 2009; sales from the traditional paper catalog continued to decrease.

“The transition from catalog orders to website orders is something we have both seen and anticipated for some time,” Davis said. “We believe this shift toward online sales is both because longtime customers are converting from the catalog to the website, and because new customers are hearing about AdamAndEve.com for the first time from new and developing marketing channels. The huge variety of quality adult-oriented products, as well as the ease and anonymity offered through ordering from AdamAndEve.com, continues to be the reason we remain successful.”
