Adam & Eve recently agreed to license their brand name to the adult novelty maker, the first time they have ever done this.rnrn
"We're very, very aggressively pursuing this because we think Adam & Eve is a fresh household name. They are great people to deal with and great at promoting themselves. We're very excited about the marriage of our two companies. We think the potential is extremely high so we're really going to go forward with a lot of vigor and intensity to get these products out there," Cory Ipson, a sales account executive at Topco Sales, told AVN.com.rnrn
According to Ipson, a number of items being released under the Adam & Eve brand, such as the Adam Pleasure Skin Dong, were sold previously by Adam & Eve as bulk products, items sold through their mail order catalog without packaging. "We've picked a few of the best sellers and put some nice packaging behind it, and we think that they will do great in retail as well," he said. rnrn
"They're obviously a very large and strong company. For a long time we've sold them products that we're making, or sold them products that we made exclusively for them, but this will be the first time that we will be making products to be marketed under their licensed brand name," said Ipson.rnrn
Adam & Eve is as pleased with the deal as Topco. Jason Hoke, Director of Wholesale for Adam & Eve, stated, "Our alliance with Topco gives us one of the premiere lines in the industry.rnrn
"We like to think that between our wholesale division and our retail catalog division, that we have a pretty good idea of what the market is like, and what the market is lacking," said Hoke, who feels that Adam & Eve's experience as a retailer will greatly aid their attempts to develop top-selling novelties. rnrn
Adam & Eve branded products should be available by the end of February, and will be packaged with mostly white backgrounds, soft images, and muted tones in an attempt to lure the high-end couples market. Eventually, Adam & Eve would like to include some of the adult performers they use in their adult videos as models for their novelties. rnrn
The initial line-up of products should include the Adam Pleasure Skin Dong, Eve's Pussy, Topco's new e-glass pieces, oils, and lubricants. rnrn
Adam & Eve will continue to sell and promote the wares of other novelty companies. "We sell adult videos from companies like Wicked and VCA although we also produce are own. We haven't had a real backlash. We try to give enough space in our catalog to everybody. We're well aware that a lot of these companies really helped us become who we are and what we are so we don't want to alienate them from our catalog - it will be a mix of our own products and those of outside vendors," said Hoke.
