Adam & Eve Alters Catalog Format for First Time

Always in search of a competitive marketing edge, Adam & Eve has altered their time-tested catalog format for the first time, creating a larger catalog with larger layouts and bigger type in hopes of making shopping via print easier than ever.

Adam & Eve’s catalog has been produced in a 5 1/2" x 8" format since the first one was mailed nearly 35 years ago, but this year’s catalog will be 8" x 11."

"Adam & Eve’s catalog has been copied [by other adult companies] so many times, we wanted to try something new, "Cindy Lutz, marketing director for Adam & Eve, explained "We test so many things every year: designs, products, you name it. We felt it was time to reformat and see what type of response we got."

Yet considering Adam & Eve’s previous format has been successful since 1970, when the company began, one wonders whatever happened to the common wisdom of "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?"

catalog format.

"With Web sites, particularly Adult Web sites, so popular, visual stimulation is a must," says Lutz. "Plus, as America gets older, it gets harder to read the small print!"
