CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Hot on the heels of the announcement that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will be hosting next year's Academy Awards, AVN Media Network extended an offer to him Thursday to host the "other Hollywood's" most prestigious awards show, the 2013 AVN Awards.
Along with the formal offer, AVN created a personalized video for MacFarlane from 2013 AVN Awards co-host Asa Akira petitioning him to join her on stage for the adult industry's biggest night of the year.
It's been a banner year for MacFarlane, who's directorial live-action debut, Ted, opened with the highest weekend gross of all time for an original R-rated comedy. Of course, Family Guy and American Dad! are still going strong too.
AVN stated in its offer that MacFarlane would be the ideal choice to host the 30th anniversary awards show. With his brand of envelope-pushing humor, not to mention his mastery in front of a live audience as demonstrated on the Comedy Central Roasts, as well as his hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, MacFarlane would kick off the awards' next 30 years with a bang.
TMZ got wind of the offer and reached out to MacFarlane early this morning, "but a rep for MacFarlane tells TMZ, the Family Guy honcho simply won't be able to rise to the occasion 'cause he's 'a little busy right now,'" the site reported.
The star-studded awards show takes place Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
