These tag lines on DVDs from Pink Visual Productions (Housewife Bangers, College Wild Parties, MILF Seeker, in that order) are lurid, raunchy and eye-catching, but what they all have in common is they’re real.
Reality holds sway in the world of Pink Visual, where the unofficial motto is, “Watch the unrehearsed reality porn unfold.”
The reality television craze that swept the country several years ago and shows no sign of peaking has had a considerable ripple effect in adult entertainment, with the creation of “reality porn” Websites capitalizing on the genre’s popularity.
Few companies have exploited the reality niche as successfully as Tucson-based Pink Visual. What began as Website content — check out pinkvisual.com — is being re-purposed and released on DVD.
According to Director of Marketing Lee Bucyk, Pink Visual Productions is “the progeny of Cyberheat Inc. and its affiliate program TopBucks Inc. The two entities, working in tandem, offer over 100 subscription adult Websites,” beginning in 1996.
“With Pink Visual we’ve taken our most popular exclusive online reality content and turned it into an offline product that offers distributors and retailers the opportunity to cash in on the adult reality theme.”
“The response from consumers has been amazing,” said Distribution Manager Kim Kysar. “The DVDs are flying off the shelves. We’re finding a whole new pool of customers, not necessarily guys who watch online, but couples who watch videos together. We’ve been getting fan mail from people who have no idea we have a Website.”
PVP prepared their entry into the DVD market for over a year, learning about the video industry and deciding how to deal with a new client base. “We moved slowly to develop our product and for branding purposes,” Bucyk said. The video line was officially launched in September, 2004.
They made their debut as part of the adult industry at the AVN Expo in January 2005. “With all the great consumer and client feedback we are looking forward to exhibiting again in January 2006,” Bucyk said.
Once launched the next logical step was a distribution center in Van Nuys in the heart of the industry. Bucyk said it has allowed them “to work more closely with other distributors as well as provide faster release times.”
Kysar added, “Our sales have really jumped, having someone working in Porn Valley.” That someone is sales rep Dani Vargas.
The PVP DVD catalogue currently offers 35 straight and 10 gay titles. The most popular lines, both on the Web and on DVD, are MILF Seeker, Teens for Cash, Her First Lesbian Sex, Backseat Bangers, and Kysar said that the new College Wild Parties is “selling really well.”
Other lines include Gang Bang Squad, Boob Exam Scam, and Her First Big Cock (“100% Real Big Cock Pickups”). Their gay series include His First Huge Cock, Gay Blind Date Sex and the new Twinks for Cash. What Bucyk refers to as their “aggressive distribution strategy” calls for releasing up to eight titles a month.
With production, Bucyk said that Cyberheat and Pink Visual both contract out ideas for new content to several producers, mostly in the Los Angeles area, who work exclusively for them. Scenes are shot primarily in Los Angeles, with additional input from Canada and Florida.
All the talent is indeed amateur, Bucyk affirmed — at least when they start out. “Occasionally some of the amateur performers later become up and coming stars in the industry,” she said. And quite a bit of email comes from fans who are just dying to be in the movies.
As for Pink Visual’s future, “We will keep going forward with our reality line of product,” Kysar said. The goal, Bucyk added, is “to develop a brand that the consumer associates with quality adult video made for their tastes: the girl next door in a situation that could happen in any guy’s life.”
