AVN Awards Set for Playboy Premiere

The 2005 AVN Awards will make its world broadcast premiere this Sunday night on Playboy TV.

The 22nd annual ceremony recognizes the best in adult entertainment for the past year. The 2005 show marks the 10th straight year the AVN Awards have been aired on a premium adult network. Playboy TV is available in 27 million cable households in the U.S. and Canada and to 24 million domestic satellite subscribers.

"Playboy has been a great broadcast partner all these years,” said Paul Fishbein, AVN president. "This year, the TV show is the best it's ever been. I'm proud of the job producer Gary Miller did. The new Playboy regime worked closely with us, adding their expertise, making the show hotter, tighter and more entertaining."

Savanna Samson and Thea Vidale hosted the raucous event, which unfolded in front of a sold-out crowd of 3,500-plus on Jan. 8 inside the Grand Ballroom of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.

The show features appearances by dozens of the industry’s brightest stars, including Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, Gina Lynn, Jessica Jaymes, Lauren Phoenix, Jessica Drake and Cytherea, live music performances by Chingy, Smash Mouth and Lit, and clips from the winning productions.

Jameson starred in two of the night’s acclaimed features, and snagged three individual awards, while Vivid Entertainment Group finished the night with an industry-leading 16 trophies.

A 30-minute special called AVN Red Hot Carpet will precede the AVN Awards at 9 p.m EST/10 p.m. PST, featuring Jesse Jane and Vanessa Blue conducting lively interviews with their fellow performers as they make their way into the ballroom.

The 2005 AVN Awards follows at 9:30 p.m. EST/10:30 pm PST. The show will repeat throughout the month and continue through April.
