A new Website for 2005 AVN Awards Show pre-nominations is now up and running, ready for producers’ use. The site has been designed to simplify and streamline the pre-nom procedure.
Producers or performers who wish to use the Website to make pre-nominations should e-mail Heidi Pike-Johnson, AVN Senior Associate Editor, at [email protected]. She will give them a user name and password enabling access to the site, which will not be available to the general public.
Pike-Johnson may also be reached at (818) 718-5788, extension 154—but she emphasized that e-mail is the most efficient and effective communication method. She also stressed that AVN can no longer accept pre-nom lists in hard copy, or via e-mail or fax.
The Website will remain active until 5 p.m. on September 30, the deadline for awards consideration. After 5 p.m., the site will be unavailable.
"The pre-nom Website will enable producers to more efficiently enter their own pre-noms,” AVN Managing Editor Mike Ramone said. “These lists,” he noted, “are invaluable tools that AVN uses to ensure that the nomination process is as fair and as all-encompassing as possible.”
To be considered for a 2005 Awards Show nomination, a production must have been released between Oct. 1, 2003, and Sept. 30, 2004. The 22nd annual AVN Awards show will be held Jan. 8, 2005, at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
Producers are reminded to provide the magazine with two copies of each title or scene they would like considered for nominations, as well as sample materials used in marketing campaigns if seeking consideration in those categories. AVN strongly prefers that titles be submitted in DVD format.
Producers may enter pre-noms in all the categories listed below. Please note the creation of a new Award category: Best Interracial Release. This is in addition to the existing Best Ethnic Release categories.
AVN Publisher Tim Connelly said that producers may request that comedies and foreign features be nominated in the Best Film and Best Video Feature categories. DVD producers, meanwhile, can pre-nom classic and all-sex DVDs for Best DVD.
However, Ramone explained, if those productions are not eventually nominated in the Best Film, Best Video Feature or Best DVD categories, producers cannot then request that they be nominated as Best Sex Comedy, Best Foreign Feature, Best Classic Release on DVD or Best All-Sex DVD.
Nominations for the 2005 Awards Show will be announced in November.
